What do all those initials stand for? MS – Master of Science RD – Registered Dietitian. An RD translates the science of nutrition for consumers. RD's provide evidence based guidance, backed by current nutrition research. LDN – Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (Massachusetts) LD – Licensed Dietitian (NH and ME) Please note that the term "nutritionist" can apply equally to someone with a great deal of education and expertise or to someone with minimal, if any, qualifications. Licensed, registered dietitians are required to stay current by attending continuing education (at least 15 hours/year) on topics related to their area of practice. Nutrition is a complex and evolving science and you should be sure to choose a qualified practitioner to assist you. |
