Good food choices can help you stay strong and healthy as you age. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains can help you to prevent or manage chronic conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
With nearly 20 years of experience working with older persons in long term care facilities, I am also available for Consultant dietitian services.
Eat well and stay strong! One of the biggest challenges in aging is to maintain muscle mass. This is important for mobility and balance – keys to staying independent! Staying strong means eating enough calories to maintain your usual weight (or to lose gradually if you are overweight), including good sources of lean protein (chicken, fish, legumes, lean cuts of beef and pork, and/or low fat dairy products), and including strength training (weights) in
your fitness routine.
